The Strathroy Legion Pipe Band, originally formed in 1963, is under the direction of Pipe Major Kevin Mitchell.  P/M Mitchell's skills as a player and leader have been honed over the past 30 years with SLPB.  The P/M also studied as a piping student in Scotland.      

 

The Strathroy Legion Pipe Band is a Grade 3 competition unit and has successfully participated in pipe band competitions in Canada, United States, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

 

Some of the Band's accomplishments include 3rd Place at the World Pipe Band Championships, 1st Place at the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Diamond Jubilee Championship, and 1st Place at the Canadian Pipe Band Championship. 

 

The Band wears the Ancient MacDonald of Glengarry tartan.  P/M Kevin Mitchell is from Strathroy, Ontario.  Pipe Sergeant Ian Welsh is from Lambeth, Ontario. Pipe Sergeant Wayne Cartier is from Norwich, Ontario.  Lead Drummer Jim Perry is from County Antrim, Northern Ireland.  Drum Major Brad Owen is from Marysville, Michigan.
